*mumbles* What is the world coming too? $50 laptop sale sets off violent stampede.
*sighs* then *read's some more.* "People trampled, beaten with folding chair"
/me *chortles heartily* "An estimated 5,500 people turned out at the Richmond International Raceway in hopes of getting their hands on one of the 4-year-old Apple iBooks."
*sees the silver lining.*

Damn! I thought this was gonna be in some third world country or something! What the hell is wrong with people? I think something like this happened last Christmas at some Wal-Mart the day after Thanksgiving. People were trampled and beaten in the stampede to buy some cheap piece of crap DVD player. Can you imaging wetting yourself in order to buy a used, 4-year old piece of technology that is pretty much outdated?
These people are like a different species or something...
Nice taste in books :)

Unfortunately some people can only afford the 4 year old used crap. I feel kinda sorry for the sad sods.
BTW, what are the chances that Dio has been carried away by that pod of dolphins?
Of course a lot of people can't afford a brand new Apple, but a 4-year old iBook is going to be very taxed with the new operating system that Mac uses-- these laptops were sold using the old OS. So these people are blowing money on a piece of plastic that's not going to work very well because if they're on the old system, no software is going to be supported, and if they're using the new system, the hard drive is going to be full up real fast. But there's status attached to the name, so none of that matters, apparently. Gotta love consumer culture. Doesn't matter what kind of crap you buy, just make sure you buy it!
I'm thinking that octopus from a couple posts down may have come looking for Dio...
LOL!
