Tenby Fireman's Carnival 2007

Wednesday 1st August was the date that the annual Retained Fireman's Carnival was the big event in Tenby. We'd never been to it before - but had been warned that we might get a bit wet, as the firemen were a bit loose with their hoses. We joined the massive crowds along South Parade and waited for the small town Carnival to arrive. It was much fun, if over much too quickly.

The crowds line the street awaiting the start of the carnival

The leading fire engine comes onto the South Parade at Tenby

The water bombs start flying thanks to the local youngsters who are well armed...

The little ones enjoying their moment in the carnival glory

Suddenly with the goat faced killers it feels a bit Wicker Man

The younsters are having fun and spread a green message

The fire brigade turn on the water works

The brown floater... snigger...

It's him - he's the one who soaked me

The tail end of the parade passes by, everyone follows

Following the water fun on South Parade, we left the bulk of the carnival and walked down to the harbour to catch the end and see people gathering for the prize giving outside Tenby's sailing club. It was the fizzle out after the fun on South Parade.

The leading fire engine heads for the harbour

The lifeboat crew heading down the hill to Tenby Harbour

The end of the parade

Spectators gather above the harbour

Fireman Sam takes a breather

The last leg on the hill down to the sailing club
